Äge has been sailing on the Paunküla lake many times now. There is no point to mark these separately into the blog, so I am combining these to one post. The excerpts are from "Äges" logbook, the real book, that each ship has.
07.07.2012 - Veeskamine - Kiruvere Muinaslaager / The launch - Kiruvere Muinaslaager
"Äge" pidulik veeskamine ja tema nime väljakuulutamine Katu poolt. Turistide ja muinaste lõbuks tegi "Äge" pool tosinat tiiru, tüüril Anti.
The festive launch of "Äge" and the public declaration of her name by Katu. "Äge" made half a dozen trips for tourists and reenactors, Anti was on the steeroar.
08.07.2012 - Austrvegr & sõbrad - Muinaslaagri lõpu tähistamine / Austrvegr&friends - celebrating the and of Muinaslaager
Meie, st Austrvegr selts, koos mõnede sõpradega nautisime peale väsitavat üritust oma uut laeva suhtelises rahus. Tüüril Katti.
We at Austrvegr society and some friends chilled after the festival and enjoyed our new ship in relative peace. Katti was at the helm.
12.08.2012 - Esimene purjetus / First sailing
Valmis sai mast, taglas, puri ja kõik 12 aeru. Proovisime kohe ka purjetamist, kuigi tuul oli üsna nõrk. Tüüril Andrus.
Mast, rigging, sail and all 12 oars were ready. We immediately tried out sailing, though the wind was relatively weak. Andrus was on the steeroar.
16.08.2012 - Austrvegr ja õpetajad ja murueided / Austrvegr and teachers and murueided
Tulid murueided ja Harmi kooli õpetajad. "Äge" kandis kokku 28 inimest, neist 10 last. Meeskonna kooslus ei võimaldanud purjetamist. Tüüril Katti.
There came murueided and teachers of Harm elementary school. There were alltogether 28 people, including 10 children. The crew was unable to sail. Katti was on the steeroar.
20.08.2012 - Taasiseseisvumine / Reestablishment of Independence Day
Purjetamine taasiseseisvumispäeval, saime kätte kuni 5 sõlme kiirust, tegime kaks reisi. Tüüril Katti ja Mäga.
Sailing on the reestablishment of independence day, we got up to 5 knots of speed, made two trips. Katti and Mäga were at the helm.
24.08.2012 - Purjetamise algkool / The basics of sailing
Purjetamist tuli õpetama Aare Kööp. Tuul oli 5 m/s, "Äge" sai purjedega kiiruseks 6 km/h. Tüüril Mäga ja Aare.
Aare Kööp came by to teach us about sailing. Wind was 5 m/s, "Äge" reached top speed of 6 km/h. Mäga and Aare were at the steeroar.
26.08.2012 - Mäga ekseksi "perepäev" / Mägas exexes "family day"
Tulid inimesed, Mäga teab. Tahtsid sõita, sõitsime. Oli täitsa tore.
There came some people, Mäga knows them. They waned to sail, we did. Was fun.
01.09.2012 - REASe suvepäevad / Reas summer days
Väga tuuline ja märg ilm, puri oli rehvitud ülemisse kolmandikku, tehti väike ring, kiirus purjedega 5,4.
Very windy and wet, sail was reefed to the topmost third, ship made a small circle, speed with sails was 5,4.
08.09.2012 - Mäga klassiõhtu / Mägas class reunion
Tuuline ja märg ilm, sadamast saime purjedega välja, tagasitee aerudega.
Windy and wet, we launched from the harbour with the sail up, all the way back with oars.
09.09.2012 - Esimene merehäda / First trouble
Ilm ilus, tuul tugev. Teispool saari kihutasime 10 km/h järve teise otsa. Tagasiteel oli vaja palju sõuda, külgtriiv väga tugev ja aerutajaid vähe, nii jäime politseimaja juures roostikku jänni. Hädast aitas välja Andre.
Weather nice, wind very strong. On the other side of the islands we sailed to the other end of the lake with 10 km/h. On the way back there was lot of oarwork, the ship drifted and there were too few of us, so we got stuck near the policehouse. Andre helped us out with a motorboat.
14.09.2012 - Äge esimene prostitutsioon / Äges first real prostitution
RIKSi koolituspäev Kiruveres, 22 külalist tegid kahes satsis Ägega reisid. Tuul tore, ilm tore. Esimest korda olid seljas ka päsätevestid, mida õnneks vaja ei läinud.
The training day of RIKS in Kiruvere, 22 guests made two trips in two sections. Wind nice, weather nice. For the first time the lifejackets were worn, but luckily not used.
22.09.2012 - On'Eero sõbra sünna / The birthday of On'Eeros friend
Tulid onu Eero sõbrad ja muud tegelased "Õhtulehest". Vastutuult sõuti terve tee, vahepeal piknik, tagasi purjega.
29.09.2012 - Mardi esimene Äge / The first äge of Mart
Tuli Mart Lodjakojast "Ägega" tutvuma. Saime talt palju nippe ja õpetusi, kuidas paremini seilata. Oli tore päev. Tippkiirus 9,4 km tunnis. Esmakordselt seilas "Äge" lüüside juurde ja võtsime ära Väikese Nõiasaare.
Came Mart from Lodjakoda to see "Äge". He gave us lots of pointers and teachings, how to sail better. It was a nice day. Top speed with sail was 9,4 km/h. For the first time "Äge" sailed towards the canal locks and we took the Small Witches Island by ship.
