Purjetus 11. mail / Sailing on the 11th of May

Tegime esimese purjetuse sel hooajal.

We made our first sailing this season. Some things we had nearly forgotten during the winter but we made it work nicely. In addition to sailing we were dabbling in cartography and named many landmarks around the Paunküla lake.

Pärast tegi Priit tiiru ruhega. Arhailised ühepuupaadid tegime juba mitu aastat tagasi.

Later Priit went for a spin in ruhe- a single-log-boat. These arhaic vessels we made several years ago.

Jalajälg Gokstadi laevast / Outline of a foot from Gokstad ship

Kuulsa Gokstadi laevaleiu detailidelt leiti alles hiljuti noore viikingi jalajäljend.

The famous Gokstad ship revealed a foot imprint of a young viking. The ship was in use before it was used for the burial. One trace of such usage was found from the floorplanks where an unknown sailor had scraped his foot outline. The foot was small, giving the impression it was a very young seafarer.
